UPDATE 8.35am:

Murgon police Constable Sheldon Livingstone said the road was currently being cleared of debris.

"(It's) still not open and should be open in the next hour, one of the trucks was a two trailer truck carrying cattle, with a  fair few cattle having to be put down," he said.

"The other truck was smaller with a caravan on the back towing a demountable,"

Police are still investigating.

EARLIER:

A FATAL truck crash at Booubyjan is being investigated by the Forensic Crash Unit.

Initial investigations suggest at about 8.30pm two trucks collided at the intersection of the Burnett Hwy and Murgon-Gayndah Rd, about 100km north-west of Gympie.

One truck driver was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. 

The second driver, a man in his 50s, has been airlifted to Toowoomba Hospital with suspected chest and other injuries.

The Burnett Hwy was closed for two hours while the Forensic Crash Unit investigates the incident.
