Get into the spirit of giving this Christmas

OPERATION Santa is back.

Kingaroy's UnitingCare Community and Target Country have joined forces again this year for the appeal.

In its 21st year, the Australia-wide appeal aims to provide disadvantaged Australians, including those in the South Burnett, with presents at Christmas time.

And earlier this week, the Christmas tree at Target was lit up and residents were invited to put their donated gifts under the tree.

Co-ordinator Susan Mortimer said more than 10 gifts were under the tree as of Tuesday.

"A lot of kids who get these presents usually would not get anything if it weren't for Operation Santa," she said.

"All of the donated gifts will stay within the South Burnett.

"Even $10 for a gift card is great, every bit counts and nothing gets wasted."

Target Country store manager Amanda Parnell said her entire team would contribute to the appeal.

"Nothing is more heartfelt than seeing a young child bring in a gift to put under the tree for another child," she said.

"It warms the heart and is the true sense of Christmas."

People can donate gifts to Operation Santa until December 23.
