POLICE are urging people to be aware of where their credit and bank cards are at all times after a number of reports of fraud.

Senior Sergeant Jason Newton said all it took was one stolen or misplaced card for thieves to rack up several fraudulent transactions around Kingaroy.

"We've had eight reports of fraudulent transactions in relation to PayWave," Sgt Newton of Kingaroy police said.

The eight cases were all from one PayWave enabled card and made before the owner cancelled their card.

He is urging people to be aware of where their cards are at all times to avoid falling prey to a similar crime.

"As soon as you are aware your card is lost or stolen, have it cancelled."
