10 South Burnett events to mark in your diaries for 2019
1. Wine and Food in the Park
FOR 20 years the South Burnett community has been celebrating local produce at the annual Wine and Food in the Park event.
The 20th birthday celebration will be held on Saturday, March 9 2019.
2. Burrandowan Races
PUNTERS from across Queensland will hit the road bound for the Burrandowan Picnic Races in May.
It will be the 97th year of the races on Saturday, May 11 and it is set to attract hundreds of visitors to the South Burnett region.
3. Kingaroy Baconfest
ON the back of the inaugural Kingaroy Baconfest this year the date has been set for 2019.
Enjoy all things bacon at the three-day festival on August 23-25 2019.
4. Rail trail festivals
RUNNERS looking for a challenge will be racing on the South Burnett rail trail on June 22-23 as part of the Wondai Country Running Festival.
Held in conjunction with the town's country festival new and experienced runners will find an event for them while seeing true country hospitality.
Entries will open in January.
Murgon will be celebrating the South Burnett rail trail at its annual event in September 2019.
Running events were added to the festival's program in 2018 and the community will be looking to encourage more people to test themselves next year.
5. Blackbutt Avocado Festival
AVOCADOS will be the centre of attention, as they are every year, at the Blackbutt Avocado Festival.
The festival will be on September 14, 2019.
6. Annual town shows
OUR town's will celebrate and showcase their best aspects at their annual shows.
Proston will host its show on March 8-9, Murgon will have its annual show on March 15-16 and Nanango will host its 110th annual show on April 13.
The Kingaroy showgrounds is the place to be on on May 4 and 5 for the town's show.
Blackbutt will celebrate on May 18 for is 85th show and Wondai will host its show on August 18.
7. Reconciliation Run
CHERBOURG and Murgon will be celebrating their communities with the annual Reconciliation Fun Run.
On Sunday May 19, 2019 the 7km road from Murgon to Cherbourg will be a sea of colours as people travel from near and far to take part.
8. Goomeri Pumpkin Festival
GOOMERI will be a hive of activity for the town's annual pumpkin festival.
Visitors from near and far will converge on the town for the much-loved annual celebration on Sunday, May 26.
9. Great Kilkivan Horse Ride
OVER a thousand horses and riders will parade through Kilkivan in September as part of the annual Great Horse Ride.
From September 6-8 2019 up to 1100 horses will travel 32km through Kilkivan Shire and meet up for the grand parade through Kilkivan.
THERE will be plenty of action on the South Burnett sporting fields in the New Year.
Kingaroy will host a national speedway title, a Intrust Super Cup Game and South Burnett athletes will be representing the region with pride locally and on the national stage.
