105th birthday bash to celebrate hotel's history
THE Maidenwell Hotel will play host to a milestone birthday celebration - not for a patron, but for the hotel itself.
On Saturday, December 1 the community will come together to celebrate 105 years of the town's local watering hole.
The hotel, originally named King's Hotel, was built by the pioneer of Maidenwell, John King in 1913.
Over the years the pub has had a number of custodians who each shaped what the establishment is today.
Lisa Parfitt has been managing the hotel alongside Adam Daris and Sah Prapiwan for just three months, but the importance of the anniversary and need for celebration is not lost on her.
"In the last three months people have been coming together and we are hoping a lot of locals join us on Saturday," Ms Parfitt said.
"It has been fantastic - we have hit the ground running and the community has supported us."
Ms Parfitt hopes the day will be an opportunity for locals to come together and reminisce over lunch.
There will be no shortage of entertainment which will include live music from 4pm as well as a buffet dinner on offer, birthday cake and face painting for the kids.
