2017 Kingaroy Show Pig Carcase Competition, Dinner & Presentation Night
The judging of the 2017 Kingaroy Show Carcase Competition was undertaken at Swickers abattoir, on Thursday 4th May.
The winners were announced at the Dinner and Presentation Night held at the Cassis on Booie Restaurant that same night.
The night was proudly sponsored by Swickers Kingaroy and Seilers Transport and was attended by over 35 people who thoroughly enjoyed the chance to come together for a beautiful meal and a few drinks.
The 2017 Competition was a huge success with a record number of carcases entered.
A total of 46 carcases, comprising 24 bacon and 22 pork carcases from 9 piggeries, made up the 2017 Competition.
The competition was very close in both classes and the carcases were of the highest standards.
Our congratulations goes out to the winners, who were as follows:
Pork Class
1st Place – Anderlea Piggery (Peter and Tracey Anderson)
2nd Place – Glasshouse Farms (Gary, Wendy and Paul Maguire)
3rd Place – Merivale Farms (Aaron and Scott Scheid)
Bacon Class
1st Place – Gjadick Pork (Greg, Karen and Jason Marr)
2nd Place – Caminda Piggery (Bruce and Leslie Trout)
3rd Place - Merivale Farms (Aaron and Scott Scheid)
Best Overall Carcase – Gjadick Pork
The winner Pork carcase was selected by Peter and Tracey Anderson’s young daughter, who is obviously a champion pig producer of the future.
Our thanks goes out to the Kingaroy Show Committee, sponsors, judges and everyone else who assisted to make the 2017 Kingaroy Show Carcase Competition a huge success, and one to remember.
Again our hardy congratulations go out to all the winners.
Attached are some photos of the carcases and of the dinner and presentation night.
