$42,000: Expensive trailer theft
ENGINEERING firm owner Bob Denny hopes distinctive features of a specially built trailer will lead to the stolen piece of equipment being recognised.
Mr Denny, who owns Denny's Silos and Grain Handling Equipment at Allora, said it cost his business about $12,000 to build the trailer.
It contained silo building equipment worth about $30,000 when it was taken from an Oakey job site earlier this month.
The company was in the process of building 10 new silos at stockfeed business Riverina when someone broke into the yard and then broke an immobilising lock on the trailer to take it out.
Mr Denny said it happened sometime on the night of November 14.
"To me, I reckon they had been casing the joint," Mr Denny said.
Other valuable equipment was left behind.
However rigging gear, including chains and dogs, as well as a new air compressor, air tools, rattler guns, paint and bolts were in the stolen trailer.
Mr Denny said the theft cost the building project lost time.
