The 9-year-old joins model search for a good cause

JORDYN LEA might just be Central Queensland's next top model.

The nine-year-old has entered the RACQ CQ Rescue Model Search with the aim of donating a good amount to the organisation and to be recognised by a modelling agency.

Models who raise more than the $250 entry fee will go into the running to be crowned Overall Charity Winner.

So far Jordyn has raised up to $1200, with Diceys contributing $125 and the Young Australian Hotel donating $50.

"I'm very happy I could raise so much, I have never done anything like this before," the Gladstone girl said.

"I'm so excited for the competition I even have my outfits picked out - my favourite is my white princess one."

Mum Alysia Lea said Jordyn was keen to do the competition as soon as she saw the Facebook post. "Whether she decides she wants to pursue modelling or not will be up to her," she said.

"But she is doing it for a good cause and has been having a lot of fun so far."

Models will hit the catwalk at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre on June 4, competing in two categories including daywear and evening wear.

Event organiser Brooke Thompson said last year's event attracted 91 competitors and raised $28,000 for RACQ CQ Rescue, a huge increase from the year before total of $12,000.

"A representative from Vivien's Model Management will be judging and scouting at the competition and are on the lookout for at least one to two models," Ms Thompson said.

"The lucky models selected will receive the opportunity of a lifetime to join Vivien's catwalk and photographic classes and also enjoy lunch with Vivien's bookers, agents, clients and models to learn all about the modelling industry."

All proceeds go directly towards the Mackay-based rescue helicopter.

You can help Jordyn raise money for the cause by typing in her name on the Go Fund Me website and donating.
