Conservative numbers man knighthood mocked as ‘Abbott move’

AUSTRALIAN-born political strategist Lynton Crosby is expected to receive a knighthood, in a move likened to Tony Abbott's knighting of Prince Philip.

Australian Labor MP Rob Mitchell told Fairfax that British Prime Minister David Cameron's recommendation of Mr Crosby for the honour was an "embarrassment to the honours system".

Mr Crosby ran several successful election campaigns for John Howard and the British Conservative Party.
