Contravention orders against child molester dismissed

CONTRAVENTION proceedings against a Mackay child molester accused of breaking a strict supervision order have been dismissed.

Ronald James Downs was jailed for having sex with a 12-year-old intellectually disabled girl on the Gold Coast, for attempting or simulating intercourse with a three-year-old boy he picked up from a pram and indecently dealing with a girl aged four to six.

He was jailed on each occasion.

In 2008 his release was granted on a 37-point 15-year community-based supervision order but he has found himself behind bars again for allegedly breaking that order.

Psychiatrists were ordered to assess Downs ahead of a hearing on Friday.

The case was heard briefly in the Brisbane Supreme Court before the case was dismissed.
