US weather loses the plot with tornadoes, blizzards, floods

THE weather in much of the US has gone crazy, producing a record series of tornadoes, heavy floods and the warmest Christmas on record in many states, followed up by blizzards.

Tornadoes have struck for seven days in a row and together with heavy flooding have killed at least 43 people in the Christmas period.

A freezing storm dubbed Goliath has brought blizzards in the south-west and was moving north-east yesterday.

More than 20 states were under a weather watch or warning.
