Wesfarmers reduces its emissions by 4.1% last financial year

THE Wesfarmers Group says it has reduced its total greenhouse gas emissions by a further 4.1% over the past financial year bringing its emission reduction to more than 20% over the past five years.

The claim was contained in the annual Wesfarmers Sustainability Report which was released at the weekend.

Wesfarmers managing director Richard Goyder said the report reflected a new approach to reporting based on the issues rated most material to the sustainability of Wesfarmers' businesses.

"Sustainability is an integral part of how we operate at Wesfarmers," he said.

"Our diverse business operations impact their communities and the environment in many ways and creating value over the long term requires that we take into account the impact that we have."
