A THREE year old boy has been returned safely to his mother

A THREE year old boy has been returned safely to his mother in Nanango after being abducted on Monday night.

A 25-year old man allegedly took the boy and a car belonging to the boys mother and said he was going to the shops about 7pm.

When he did not return the boy's mother reported him missing and the car stolen.

Police patrolling on the Bruce Highway found the man, the boy and a 16-year-old boy near Beachmere on Tuesday morning with a small amount of cannabis in the car.

The man was arrested and charged with child abduction, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing dangerous drugs, disqualified driving and domestic violence matters.

He was remanded in custody and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.

The 16-year old boy was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, possessing property suspected of being stolen and unlicensed driving and will face Children's Court in the New Year.
