A wet start coming for March

WHILE February has been one of the driest on record, we're looking at a damp start to March as we catch the fallout from larger weather systems.

Weartherzone meteorologist Jacob Cronje said rain was coming.

"Most of the rainfall we're going to get is going to be over the eastern seaboard of New South Wales. Having said that, we could see a couple of millimetres every day for the South Burentt region,” Mr Cronje said.

Monday and Tuesday will be cool with temperatures sitting in the high 20s.

"There's a chance of showers and thunderstorms in afternoon delivering around 5mm per day,” Mr Cronje said.

"Looking into Wednesday, we'll have partly cloudy skies and temperatures increasing into low 30s.”

The minimum temperatures should stay below 20 degree.

"Looking to rainfall there'll be a light lull but we could see about 2-3mm on Wednesday and Thursday evening.”

As the weekend approaches the weather will become unstable bringing rain and storms.

"Come Friday, Saturday and Sun thunderstorms quite likely,” Mr Cronje said.

Mr Cronje forecast total of about 10-15mm of the rain by the end of the week.
