Alleged gang rape of girl, 6, in far north Queensland

POLICE  are investigating the alleged gang rape of a young girl in remote far north Queensland.

It is alleged the girl, believed to be six years old, was attacked by four male teenagers on April 15.

She was taken from the Aboriginal community on Mornington Island, where the incident happened, to Townsville Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

"She is still injured from the incident," a source said.

Four boys, believed to be aged between 14 and 16, have been flown to Mt Isa where they are assisting detectives with their inquiries.
