Amanda Praetz is the 2017 Proston showgirl

PROSTON woman Amanda Praetz has been selected to be the 2017 Proston Miss Showgirl.

Miss Praetz said it felt good to have received the position.

"I'm looking forward to the experience,” she said.

"To getting into the community and learning new things.

"I'm looking forward to the show, meeting new people and all of the events.”

The 22-year-old has lived all around the country.

"I moved around a lot,” she said.

"I lived in Western Australia for seven and a half years, then I moved to Orange in New South Wales for one and a half years and then I moved to Melbourne for 5 years.

"I then moved to Queensland and have been in the state for two years.

"I love Proston because it is in the country and I always preferred the country to the city as it's quiet.”

Miss Praetz said she had a love of horses.

"I like to go horse riding,” she said.

"I just have always loved horses, since I was little.

"They just make me feel free.”

The showgirl said she was currently studying a Certificate Two in Kitchen Operations at TAFE.

"I want to get into hospitality,” she said.

"I'm quite enjoying it, I want to try and become a chef.

"I've been cooking since I was probably four or five years old.”

Miss Praetz said if attendees saw her at the show, they should not be afraid to come up and say hello.
