Murgon Aquatic centre funded

MURGON is set to be a popular place next summer, with plans for a $1.1 million pool upgrade to go ahead.

The extra funding needed for the upgrade was this week confirmed by the State Government following a grant application from BIEDO's South Burnett Sports and Recreation officer, Nicole O'Brien.

The $415,000 will help build modern change rooms, outdoor showers, a new kiosk and a dedicated first aid room.

Stage one of the project will start early next year using the $650,000 set aside in South Burnett Regional Council's budget.

But the extra funding from the Get Playing Plus Grant means the proposed modern aquatic centre will become a reality.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the council could now call for tenders to get the project started.

The master concept plan is available for viewing at the South Burnett Regional Council office, libraries, visitor information centre and Pulse Sport Recreation Centre.
