UPDATE 3.30PM: Serious charges against a teenager involved in a large-scale man-hunt across Toowoomba have been adjourned to October.

Michael Wade Hearn, 15, had his first appearance in the Toowoomba Magistrate's Court this afternoon after police laid charges against him this morning.

Magistrate Graham Lee said the interests of justice outweighed concerns raised by Hearn's legal representative and granted permission for the publication of his name.

No application for bail was made before the court.

The boy is facing seven charges relating a series of alleged offences in the Upper Lockyer and Toowoomba area yesterday.

The case has been adjourned to October 1.

6.10AM: Police have charged a boy after a series of incidents in Upper Lockyer yesterday.

It will be alleged that around 2.40pm a stolen vehicle containing four male juveniles rolled on McDonald Road.

A 36-year-old man stopped at the scene of the crash to render assistance when the male driver allegedly presented a replica firearm, stole the man's utility and drove away.

Three male passengers, aged 13, 14 and 15, were left behind with minor injuries and were transported to the Toowoomba Base hospital for treatment.

PolAir and Dog Squad officers commenced a search of the area and located the stolen utility around 5.20pm at Darling Heights.

Police located the driver a short time later on Bridge St, Wilsonton.

A 15-year-old Grantham boy has been charged with enter premises with intent, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, armed robbery in company, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, unlicensed driving, fail to remain at the scene of a traffic crash, and carry exposed weapon in a public place.

He will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

TUESDAY 7.05PM: Police have arrested the alleged armed carjacker at Wilsonton McDonald's.

Police hunted the suspect following a single vehicle rollover which started a large-scale ground and air search for the man about 2.30pm.

More details to follow.

UPDATE 6.42PM: The air search has been called off but police remain on the ground, searching for a man.

The suspect is armed and residents are urged to remain indoors.

Sightings of the man can be reported to police via Police Link on 131 444.

UPDATE 5.45PM: Police have moved the hunt for an armed carjacker to Toowoomba.

Residents are being urged to remain indoors as ground crews assist Polair, the police helicopter, with the search.

The search is concentrating on Darling Heights and the nearby suburbs for a man wanted in relation to a carjacking in Upper Lockyer this afternoon.

Ground officers and Polair, the police helicopter, are being used in the search.

The search follows the carjacking of a good Samaritan in the Upper Lockyer about 2.30pm who had stopped to help four people injured in a car rollover on McDonald's Rd.

Three people were seriously injured while another has reportedly pulled a gun on the passer-by and stolen a white 2014 Volkswagen Amarok ute and fled the scene.

He was tracked through the Upper Lockyer and Murphy's Creek areas by both ground police and Polair.

That search then moved to Darling Heights about 5pm.

The search is continuing.

UPDATE: 4:30PM Police have released the details of a vehicle they believe a man is travelling in after fleeing the scene of a serious crash in the Lockyer Valley.

The man is believed to have a firearm and is driving a White VW Amarok dualcab ute with the number plate 769TYJ.

The ute has a red/ black W logo on its sides and rear.

BREAKING: A car has rolled, two people are seriously injured and an armed man has fled the crash scene, according to reports from emergency services.

The crash on McDonalds Rd in the Lockyer Valley between Murphys Creek and Postmans Ridge was reported about 2.30pm.

It was reported that an armed man got out of the overturned vehicle and stole at gunpoint the second vehicle involved in the crash.

Three young people, including a young child, have been seriously injured.

Two were laying on the road when emergency services arrived.

Emergency services are on the scene.

Police believe the stolen vehicle - a Volkswagen Amarok ute -  is heading towards Murphys Creek.

The driver is believed to be armed with a firearm.

The PolAir helicopter has been called to assist in the search for the stolen vehicle.
