TODAY'S coverage is of an amazing Carbon Black edition of the 2011 Aston Martin V12 Vantage.
The standard Vantage model is equipped with a 4.7-litre, 32 valve V8 engine which produces 313 kilowatts (420 horsepower) and 469 Newton metres of torque (346 pound-feet of torque), but somehow Aston Martin managed to fit a 6.0-litre, 48 valve V12 engine straight out of the DBS into this beast.
Now, this model produces 380 kilowatts (510 horsepower) @ 6500 rpm and 569 Newton metres of torque (420 pound-feet of torque) @ 5750 rpm. That's 67 more kilowatts and 100 more torques.
This power goes straight to the rear wheels through a classic six-speed manual transmission, so you know it is a true-bred race machine.
Even though it has the same engine out of the DBS, it doesn't mean it will handle the same! This V12 Vantage weighs about 15 kilograms less, it is 33cm shorter and the wheelbase is about 12cm shorter than the DBS.
This allows this Aston Martin to launch from 0-100kmh in just 4.2 seconds, and it will keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 305 kilometres per hour (190mph).
This is 0.1 seconds faster from 0-100kmh than the DBS and 0.7 seconds faster than the V8 Vantage. It will also do an extra 15 kilometres per hour (10 mph) on the V8 Vantage, but will do the same as a DBS.
Since this is the Carbon Black edition, some unique upgrades that this particular V12 Vantage features includes carbon black metallic paintwork, the 10-spoke forged alloy gloss black painted wheels with a diamond turned finish, a bright finished grill, lightweight seats, unique sill plates, anodised black tread plates and more.
Some of the upgrades that come standard on a V12 Vantage include a limited-slip rear differential, double-wishbone front and rear suspension, four-wheel ABS, traction and stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, self-levelling high intensity discharge xenon headlights, heated leather bucket seats, front and rear parking sensors, carbon, suede and leather trim on the interior and much more.
The V12 Vantage is unfortunately a limited-production vehicle and only 300 will be made, and I was lucky enough to see one of the few vehicles with the Carbon Black package.
This is easily my favourite Aston Martin Vantage model because of its exclusivity, performance and attention to detail and you can currently buy a 2011 V12 Vantage in Australia for about $310,000.
