Aussie traditions in Nanango on Australia Day
NANANGO will be a hive of activity on Australia Day with a number of events planned to mark the occasion.
The national day will be celebrated with the infamous thong toss competition and backyard games at the Nanango RSL.
Working in conjunction with the free family event at the Nanango showgrounds and family friendly event at The Palace the RSL will be providing entertainment from 12-5pm.
RSL manager Sheena Lindholm is looking forward to celebrating another Australia Day with the community.
"We've put on five hours of entertainment, arranged the annual thong toss, put on some new promotions and will be running our Monster Raffles with 20 prizes and games that everyone can take part in,” she said.
The RSL will be running a menu from noon featuring Aussie favourites of steak, bacon and egg pie, kangaroo works burger, pavlova and the infamous chiko roll.
"We are looking forward to some Giant Jenga, croquet and other games normally played on an Australian backyard; we've even got some fake turf,” Ms Lindholm said.
"All games of course have prizes which range from vouchers, drinks and cash.
"We also have plenty of raffle prizes and other promotions, so there is plenty for everyone. We like to make sure everyone feels included here at the Nanango RSL.”
The RSL will be open on the Monday public holiday from 12-6pm with a Citizens Auxiliary sausage sizzle.
