Avo-go at Blackbutt Avocado Festival
COME and enjoy a fun family day celebrating beautiful Blackbutt and the delicious avocados the region produces.
There will be entertainment all day for young and old, compete in the Avo-Toss, enjoy live music, watch cooking demonstrations on how to perfectly cook avocados, take in the woodchop competitions and so much more.
There is something for everyone at this year's Blackbutt Avocado Festival.
Avo Central at the Memorial Hall is the place to be this weekend.
It's the home base for all things avocado.
Here is where you will discover why avocado is such a versatile food.
Find cooking demonstrations by official South Burnett Food Ambassador Jason Ford to make your mouth water and crafting displays that show off the talents of local residents and artists in the Avo-Go crafting competition.
Outside you can enjoy participating in lots of fun activities, with a particular highlight being the famous Avo-Toss (with competitions for both kids and adults), get closest to the pin and you could end up the winning the cash prize.
Join in the Ken Mills Street Parade, which is always a highlight of the festival and a great way to have some fun.
This year's theme is Avocado.
The best 'avocado character' in the parade will win an amazing weekend away at Kingfisher Bay Resort.
The showgrounds are the end point of the street parade, so head down to see all the spectacular floats up close.
The XXXX Woodchop and Woodcutters Bar is there, so there will be plenty of exciting action to see right through the day as those woodchips fly.
The showgrounds are also the home to the Country Canteen, where you can get breakfast on the day of the festival, as well enjoy the festival barbecue that night.
A new addition to this year's festival is the Avo Grow Tent, featuring displays, demonstrations and talks by experts.
Learn about avocados and their grow cycle, enter a world of fertilising, grafting and pest-control that will leave you with a better appreciation of those yummy avocados coming to your table, or enable you to grow your own, wonderful avocados.
No festival is complete without a chance to do some shopping at the market stalls.
There will be a range of handcrafted products from all around the region including high quality woodworking, clothes, plants and other products for your garden.
There will be lots on offer for those looking for a bargain, a present or to just spoil themselves.
The food stalls and wine alley are certain to keep your belly full and your energy levels high with a delicious selection of foods and local wines.
Around town there will be live music and buskers, Machinery Alley, Kids Central, and the Roy Emerson Museum.
The Blackbutt Avocado festival has so much entertainment and activities on offer.
