Axe accused hurls foul abuse, calls magistrate 'maggot scum'

TYRONE Joel Santo hurled abuse at Magistrate Damien Dwyer and his defence barrister Phillip Moore in Mackay Magistrates Court yesterday.

The 24-year-old Mackay man appeared in custody on one count each of going armed so as to cause fear; fail to dispose of needle and syringe; wilful damage and two counts of serious assault police officer while armed with a weapon, over alleged incidents on October 21.

As Magistrate Dwyer tried to establish how Santo would plead, the young man began a tirade of abuse by saying 'nah, f--- that' in response.


As Santo's barrister, MrMoore, began arguing his client's case Santo unleashed another outburst calling Mr Moore a 'useless c---'.

When it was clear bail would be denied, Santo screamed: 'Youse are all f---ing scums. I need another lawyer you f---ing maggot."

Santo continued to scream as he was led from the dock back to the watch-house.

He will reappear in court at a later date.
