BACONFEST: Come join the Rasher's Rush
BACONFEST is approaching fast, so for those who are excited to get running in the free Rasher's Rush, you might want to start preparing.
Mick Freeman, Rasher's Rush organiser, said that he's hoping for a healthy crowd this year, blitzed with BaconFest themed accessories.
"The Rasher's Rush is a non-competitive fun run, where the main focus is dressing up,” he said.
According to Mr Freeman, there will be prizes awarded for the best dressed in the bacon theme.
But while it's a fun opportunity to dress up, it's also a good opportunity to enjoy some exercise, and if you'd like, something you might want to train for.
The rush will have two options, with either a 10km run, or a 4km walk or run.
This event will take place on the Saturday of BaconFest, August 24, and according to Mr Freeman, people should gather at around 9am for a 9:30am start.
"There will also be a ride happening earlier with the mountain bike club,” he said.
"People can start training if they want to, but the main thing we want people to do is start getting excited for the event and designing their fancy dress and costumes.”
The run will go from Youngman St to Memerambi and back, and it will take place along the rail trail.
"It's another chance for people to get out there and see the countryside, as well as what the South Burnett has to offer,” he said.
"It's a great way to show the tourists our rail trail, and show people a different perspective of Kingaroy.”
