Bennett has not lost dressing room: Sims
BRISBANE prop Ashton Sims has hit back at critics of his coach Wayne Bennett, in no uncertain terms describing it as "bulls..t".
Speculation was rife heading into the season that the seven-time premiership winner had "lost his aura" and the support of his players.
The Broncos opened the season with a win over the reigning champions, the Sharks, last Thursday.
"He's Wayne Bennett," Sims bluntly told media yesterday. "It's pretty simple.
"He hasn't lost any aura in my eyes.
"And the talk of him losing the playing group is absolute bulls..t."
Broncos captain Darius Boyd said he didn't expect the pressure on the entire club to be eased any time soon however.
The Broncos play North Queensland in a blockbuster derby on Friday night.
"I just think that comes with being at this club, as a Bronco," he said of the scrutiny.
"With the proud history that this club has, there is always pressure whether you are captain or coach or whoever.
"But we don't focus on that sort of stuff.
"We have a hard enough job performing on the field each week."
Jordan Kahu, meanwhile, played down a health scare for teammate Tautau Moga.
The centre reportedly suffered heart problems during training over the weekend.
"I think that was just precautionary," he said of Moga leaving the field early.
The former Cowboy, who was named the Broncos' players' player in his debut for the club, is expected to face his old team this week.
