SOME things never change, especially when it comes to Besart Berisha banging in the goals. The A-League's most prolific striker is again the favourite among pundits to win the race for the Golden Boot for the third time.
"I just don't see anyone that's the same calibre of striker as him. He's so deadly in front of goal," said Archie Thompson at the Fox Sports A-League launch. "I saw him yesterday and he still looks hungry and fitter than ever."
Daniel McBreen agrees, but the former forward believes Western Sydney's Spanish signing Oriel Riera and Roy O'Donovan from the Newcastle Jets could challenge Berisha.
"You can't look past Besart Berisha. He's just been phenomenal," McBreen said.
"But Riera for Western Sydney, I think if they can get that squad they've got in motion, then I think he could be a real danger.
"They're the two favourites. Roy O'Donovan could be up there. I think he's a proven a goal scorer. If Newcastle can create chances he'll definitely put them away. There'll always be a dark horse, but I think it will be one of those three."
But Berisha will have other challengers, even with Bruno Fornaroli out for a chunk of the season and Jamie Maclaren gone.
Robbie Slater believes Sydney FC's Brazilian striker will beat Berisha to the gong this season.
"Bobo, he's going to score a lot of goals this season," Slater said.
And he has a point. Bobo scored 15 goals in his first A-League season and he takes the penalties, which gives him a great chance of topping the scoring.
