WHAT'S ON: It is set to be another busy sporting weekend in the South Burnett.

For motor sport enthusiasts, Proston Car Rally Club will host its first rally weekend of the year.

Across the weekend there will be a khanacross from 11am on Saturday and continuing at 8am on Sunday.

The khanacross is open to various classes including two-wheel drives, four-wheel drives, buggies, ladies and juniors from 12 years.

Competition will be held on various tracks throughout the weekend in a time trial format to test the skill and capability of both the drivers and their vehicles.

There will also be burnouts from 6pm on Saturday for open men, ladies and young guns from 14 years.

Drivers will compete in three rounds and be judged according to their skill completing 360-degree manoeuvres, producing smoke from their vehicle's rear tyres and crowd appreciation.

It is one of four events the club runs each year under the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport.

Entry is free for spectators and there is free camping on site, with gates opening on Friday afternoon for spectators and competitors to secure their camping spots.

In golf, the Blackbutt Golf Club will have a three- person ambrose for its 2018 opening day on Saturday.

The day will run from 10am with a shotgun start and golfers and non-golfers are welcome on course.

For non-golfers the maximum handicap is 18 and for ladies and juniors the maximum handicap is 30.
