Ashy Bines bikini body challenge sweeps into Mackay
THE results of this weight loss program have some women stripping down to their undies and posting pictures of themselves on Facebook.
The Ashy Bines Bikini Body Challenge (ABBBC) has become a Facebook sensation, with nearly 500,000 likes, and now it's poised to take over Mackay.
On the ABBBC Facebook page, women who have completed the 12-week challenge have taken to posting before and after pictures of themselves in their underwear or swimmers.
Qualified Mackay fitness trainer Marie Muscat has signed on as the program's new area manager and head trainer.
She will host the boot camp training sessions that get under way at Mackay Harbour on January 28.
Ms Muscat said the Facebook posts were an inspiration to women, and the weight loss success was real.
"People just seem to love the online forum, it's available 24 hours a day and people go on there and post pics," she said.
"It's a real motivation tool for them."
However, the ABBBC program has not been launched without controversy.
Ashy Bines, who is a Gold Coast bikini model, was criticised by some participants and media for a lack of qualifications.
Regardless of Ms Bines' expertise in fitness, Ms Muscat, who has been working in the industry for more than 25 years, said the ABBBC program had it all.
"Because it is a 12-week program I think the girls will be more focused," she said.
"It encourages girls to set goals and the progress is measured along the way."
The boot camp style training will run six days a week or three days a week, depending on the program.
The sessions offer a variety of different training techniques and have challenges with names like Death by Cardio, the Beep Test and the Punisher.
Ms Muscat said the ABBBC was not a fad diet and all women who committed to the plan would see great results.
"There is also the Ashy's Clean Eating Guidelines. It is just as important as the exercise," she said.
"It has recipes, meal plans and information on carbohydrates and protein ... everything that you would need."
On joining the ABBBC, women can communicate with other participants who are completing the challenge online.
