Blackbutt Golf Club celebrates its past
GOLF: The Blackbutt Golf Club celebrated the people who made the club what it is today at their past presidents day.
On Saturday, 36 players took to the course for a three-person ambrose.
Fay Green, Tony Green and Glen Bell were the best team of the day, finishing on 58 1/3.
Dawn Reiser, Alan Reiser and Anthony Beutel finished in second with 59 1/6 followed by Geoff Maudsley, Ian Jones and Gavin Jones on 60 1/3 and Bill Bool, Rob Donnelly and Judy Beste with 62 1/2.
The club hosted an open stroke on Wednesday, December 12.
John Boike was the best player of the day in a field of 14.
Boike won on 68 nett, ahead of runner-up Phil Little on 70 nett and third place Graham Bierton on 72 nett.
Boike was also the nearest to pin on 5 and 14 and Bob Holmes was the nearest to pin on 9 and 18.
In celebration of the festive season, the club played a novelity round of nine holes on Sunday. There were 21 players on course and Paul Burgoyne finished on top with 28 nett.
Paul Green was the runner-up with 31 nett, followed by Tony Green who finished on 34 nett and Bill Bool with 35 nett.
The club's open stroke will be played on Wednesday, teeing off at 9am.
On Saturday, December 22 the club will host an American foursomes to start at 11am.
The club will be closed on Christmas Day but players will be back on Boxing Day.
Teeing off at 9am, the club will host a veterans' single stableford.
