Confusion reigns as missing boy spotted in Gladstone
POLICE have received multiple reports a boy that went missing on the Sunshine Coast has been spotted in Gladstone.
An update from a concerned family member of the latest sighting of the boy, 17, in Gladstone, has been shared widely across social media.
"My beautiful nephew has been missing for five days from the Sunshine Coast," she wrote. "Family is extremely anxious and worried for his safety."
Fears are growing for the boy who hasn't been seen since March 8.
Police and his family are particularly concerned for his safety because of a "medical condition".
But Gladstone police Acting Sergeant Riana Murray said despite receiving multiple reported sightings of the boy in Gladstone, police haven't confirmed he is here.
Acting Sgt Murray said, regardless, the message to the public is continue to be on the lookout for the boy (pictured).
She said police believed the teenager was heading to Gladstone to visit family, but there was no indication he had arrived yet.
She also said locals only reported seeing the teenager in the street, but hadn't approached him or alerted him to the fact he was considered missing.
He is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 174cm tall, a slim build, brown hair, and hazel eyes.
He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and grey shorts.
