Dry lightning strikes flare up fires across Burnett

UPDATE 7.45PM:

After containing the fire at River Rd, Gordonbrook, crews were called to another fire in the South Burnett.

Dry lightning strikes from this afternoon's storms sparked a second fire on the Bunya Hwy at Taabinga.

A QFES spokesperson said the River Rd fire was contained just before crews had to respond to the Taabinga fire.

"We'd pretty much got the Gordonbrook fire under control when we had to send the trucks out to Taabinga," he said.

Six crews are currently on scene at Taabinga.

EARLIER 5PM:

Queensland Rural Fire Services are currently responding to a fire in the South Burnett.

A spokeswoman from QFES said there were four crew en route to reports of a vegetation fire at River Rd, Gordonbrook.

The crews were sent out after the call came in at 4.49pm.
