Roar have ‘exposed’ Sydney firmly in their sights

BRISBANE Roar star Brett Holman says A-League leaders Sydney FC have lost their "aura".

The Roar travel to Allianz Stadium on Saturday night to meet the reigning champions, who have won only one of their past five matches in all competitions heading into their AFC Champions League clash on Tuesday night against Kashima Antlers in Japan.

With the eighth-placed Roar not in a position where they can afford to drop any more points in their quest to make the top six, Holman believes it's a good time to be meeting Sydney.

"We're coming off a great little period of six weeks and we've got a lot to play for now, so we've got to go there and give it everything," Holman said.

"There is little bits and pieces (about Sydney) that we've got to pick out … they've been exposed a little bit."

When asked if Sydney had lost their aura, Holman replied: "I think they have. That impressive season that they did last year, I don't think it is as effective this season and I think teams have come to notice that.

"On the other hand, we've got to go down there and put in a good performance first. If we don't do that then it's not going to make a difference."

Holman said if the Roar won their remaining five regular season matches, they would make the top six.

"We've got to win every game and then look what happens in the table after that," he said.

"Don't even focus on the other teams. Worry about our games. If we in all five, we make the six."
