Brisbane band boosts talent of local musicians
BRISBANE based brass group Letterbox Brass wowed in Wondai on the weekend, culminating in a concert at the Wondai RSL on Sunday.
The concert was a result of the brass group's work with the Wondai and District Band; a master class in music.
Letterbox Brass member John Guiton said teaching music in regional Queensland had been a great opportunity to share his knowledge.
"The guys in the group have a lot of experience with these workshop types of things, and when Wondai asked, we thought it was a great idea."
"It's great to see musicians out here in numbers for one small little town, and the quality of music has been really good too.
Organiser Terry Jacobson said formal training was invaluable for the Wondai band.
"It's a chance for the younger musicians to sit in with more experienced players, and it lifts the standard of the band."
"It also gives them a little bit more enthusiasm because you're with players who are better and can pass on their knowledge to the rest."
Wondai and District Band were also joined by Sunshine Brass from Nambour.
Letterbox Brass is a collection of individual brass players, who have each achieved significant success around Australia, coming together for the trip to the South Burnett.
