SUNSHINE Coast cops have netted a huge haul of illicit drugs during traffic Operation Lassoo.

The operation, involving the Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad, Nambour Road Policing Unit and southern patrol group stations resulted in two people arrested on serious drugs charges.

Northbound Bruce Highway traffic was targeted at the Glass House Mountains overnight and at about 10.30pm police intercepted a car travelling towards the Coast.

A search of the vehicle uncovered almost 2kg of cannabis, 2000 MDMA pills, cocaine and cash.

The 21-year-old driver from Mackay was charged with three counts of possessing a dangerous drug and receiving tainted property.

He'll appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on October 26.

The passenger, a 29-year-old man, was charged with two counts of possessing a dangerous drug and will appear in court on November 22.

Senior Sergeant Scott Wiggins, officer in charge of the Sunshine Coast Tactical Crime Squad, estimated the drugs seized were worth about $30,000.

Over 1000 random breath tests and 31 drug tests were done during the operation, which was held from 8pm yesterday to 2am today.

Twenty-one people were nabbed during the operation, with 26 charges laid, as about 1030 vehicles were intercepted.

The operation comes after a series of recent drug operations in the region.

Last week police targeted drug users and dealers in Caloundra, with nine people arrested on 25 charges.

In the same week more than $100,000 of drugs was seized during a raid in Wurtulla.

Earlier this month raids in Brisbane were undertaken, the final stage of a 10-month operation which resulted in seven people being arrested.
