Celebrating the troubled life of Charlotte Dawson

MODELS actors, footballers and fashion designers were among mourners who turned out to celebrate the glamorous but troubled life of Sydney socialite Charlotte Dawson today.

An urn containing the former model and reality television judge's ashes was placed on the lecturn by her sister Vicky who told the crowd Dawson had "always managed to stay beautiful", the Daily Telegraph reported.

Veteran entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins was MC of the memorial service, which was held at a Sydney hotel.

Former Australia's Top Model host Sarah Murdoch, model Megan Gale and colourful Kings Cross identity John Ibrahim were in attendance.

One of Dawson's closest friends, fellow reality show judge and Australian designer Alex Perry, described her as a "thoughtful, funny, beatiful fragile girl who wanted to be loved".

Dawson, 47, was found dead in her luxury Sydney apartment last weekend following a long battle with depression.

Mourners were encouraged to make a donation to her chosen charities - The Smile Foundation and Lifeline.
