A NUMBER of South Burnett businesses have started 2018 with their operations up for sale, but this isn't necessarily an indication of business success in the area.
Flamingo Wish owners Jenny and Allan Trevaskis are moving on from the South Burnett after a new job opportunity was too good to pass up.
"My husband was offered a job in Melbourne and it's a really good job in his field, it was too good an opportunity to pass up,” Mrs Trevaskis said.
Flamingo Wish is in its 10th year of operation.
"We moved here to start the shop and built it from the ground up,” Mrs Trevaskis said.
"When we came here we were the only gift shop in town so we had the market covered.”
Technology presented Flamingo Wish with some obstacles, along with brick and mortar competition.
"People have online shopping now so it has changed their shopping habits, that's one of our biggest challenges,” Mrs Trevaskis said.
"However we do get a lot of support from locals who value that personal touch from shopping at the brick and mortar shops.”
Another business up for sale is the Hotel Cecil in Wondai.
Mrs Trevaskis said her store's location in the Kingaroy Shoppingworld was ideal.
"It would be really nice to see the store continue on,” Mrs Trevaskis said.
"It's a great store, it also has its challenges like any other business.
"This is an ideal opportunity for someone to come in and take on an established business.”
