Chilly start for Kingaroy as temperatures plunge.

KINGAROY was the coldest in the state this morning as temperatures plunged to a chilly 1.7 degrees at 5.57am.

Spokesman for the Bureau of Meteorology Chris Joseph said there would have been frost in some parts of the South Burnett this morning.

"Kingaroy's average for this time of year is 7 degrees in the morning," he said.

"1.7 degrees is well below that average."

Mr Joseph said Kingaroy should expect some cold mornings over the next couple of days.

"There will be possible frost in some parts," he said.

"From Wednesday night and Thursday morning and leading to the weekend, we will see temperatures rise to 5-6 degrees again."

Day time temperatures will fall to 3-4 degrees below the average of 22 degrees with clear skies before Friday, with a small chance of a shower over the weekend.
