Kingaroy Christmas Carnival needs new sponsors
THIS year's Kingaroy Christmas Carnival may not go ahead if the committee cannot raise the money needed to put on the festive evening.
After last year's carnival was rained out, a committee has come together to raise money to get the carnival back on track.
It needs $20,000 to get off the ground.
Three sponsors have already come on board to help out.
South Burnett Deputy Mayor Keith Campbell has supported the committee and decided to help with the fundraising.
"Last year the Christmas carnival was severely hampered due to a rain event that moved through just as the carnival started," Cr Campbell said.
Room Motels Kingaroy came on as the first sponsor of the carnival and manager Rob Langford said the company was community orientated.
Kingaroy Super IGA and Global Engineering have also come on board.
IGA manager Trace O'Neil said the supermarket was all about giving back to the community.
The Christmas carnival committee wants to encourage residents to shop locally.
Cr Campbell said "it's in their interests to keep our local businesses sufficiently profitable that they can provide the services they do over the 365 days of the year."
So far the committee has raised $7500.
There will be music, raffles, ride and slide, food, stalls and animals farm and of course the great man himself, Santa Claus.
