Christmas lights up South Burnett

THE South Burnett is sparkling thanks to an overwhelming number of entries in the Hancock Prospecting 2015 Christmas lights competition.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the sheer volume of residents entering the competition had meant judging had to be brought forward to Saturday, December 5.

"This will allow council to organise for the judges to co-ordinate their schedules so they can view all the entries across the South Burnett region to ensure the competition is fair," Cr Kratzmann said.

He paid tribute to the generosity of competition sponsors Hancock Prospecting, whose prize pool for winners includes two trips to Singapore, and cash prizes across the region.

"Many residents traditionally go to a lot of time and trouble to decorate their homes during the festive season which allows others to travel around and enjoy the lights and share the magic of Christmas.

"We have been inundated with competition entrants and we look forward to seeing the spectacular light displays around the region," Cr Kratzmann said.

Entrants are reminded to ensure their lights are turned on from Saturday between the hours of 7pm-11 pm, to qualify for prizes.
