Clan member searches for fellow Scotsmen in the Burnett
A SOUTH Burnett resident has put a call out in a bid to find fellow Scottish descendants living in the region.
Lynnsay Fryer will run a clan gathering to revel in the Scottish culture in the South Burnett on April 11.
"It's a celebration of the Scottish nature,” he said.
Mr Fryer, the commissioner for Australia for clan MacKinnon, will be the guest speaker at the public gathering held near the Kingaroy library from noon.
"I'm asking all Scots to gather and raise their standards for their culture,” he said.
There will be displays and many opportunities for Scottish descendants and other South Burnett residents to experience the Scottish culture.
There will be readings of pieces by Scottish poet Robert Burns and traditional Scottish games.
Mr Fryer said based on the names of places alone, the South Burnett has a rich Scottish heritage.
"Many people will not have a Scots name, mine's disappeared,” he said.
