Clancy and Artacho del Solar win world tour gold

VOLLEYBALL: Kingaroy's Taliqua Clancy has won gold alongside her team mate Mariafe Artacho del Solar at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour in Switzerland.

Clancy and Artacho del Solar dominated the first set of the gold medal match against against China's Fan Wang and Xinyi Xia to win the set 21 points to 12.

The Chinese team fought back in the second set but the Australians stayed in control, not letting Fan Wang and Xinyi Xia come back into the game.

Clancy used her power shot to close the match and claim the gold medal in just two sets.

The Australian duo were proud to take the win.

"We are really excited! This is the third gold and it is exciting for us how we can keep growing our game as a new team,” Artacho said.

The team showed their competition experience during the final.

"We take it one tournament at a time and one game at a time,” Clancy said.

"We knew they would come out strong, so we definitely knew we had to re-focus again, because we all had a long tournament. So we are feeling really good about it now.”

It is the pairs third world tour gold medal after taking out the competitions in Qinzhou and Sydney in 2017.
