HOW do you make a really good burger in 15 minutes?
That was the challenge for a few local identities at the Mundubbera Show as nine cooks put their talents to the test in the Celebrity Cook-Off.
The brainchild of Paul Dare, from Bendigo Bank Mundubbera, saw nine well-known locals do their best and their not so best to be crowned the king cook.
Former Deputy Premier and Member for Callide Jeff Seeney spent a little too long firming his patty and not enough time cooking it.
"That's why they call it a patty, you've got to pat it," he said.
Using the same mince and salads, the only edge other than cooking skill was a secret ingredient brought from home.
Rosemary, fresh herbs and caramelised onions were all brought in, but in the end it might have gone down to how well the meat was cooked.
After assessing the finished burgers, Andrew Breitkopf, from Mundubbera Three Rivers Tourist Park, was crowned the king of the kitchen.
He used a bit of fetta and some caramelised onion, but said it was the way he cooked his beef that mattered.
"It's got to be well done, you can't undercook it."
- Fetta cheese
- Caramelised onions
