Clive Palmer advisor to face kidnapping charges in August

THE alleged international kidnapping plot involving Clive Palmer's media advisor will be back in court in August after a brief mention on Monday morning.

Andrew James Crook's case was mentioned at the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning where it was adjourned until August, 3.

Mr Cook has been charged with attempted fraud, trying to pervert the course of justice and retaliation of a witness.

Police allege Mr Crook used his connections with Mr Palmer to make a job offer to an NAB employee appear legitimate.

The man was allegedly then flown to Indonesia where former private investigator Mick Featherstone and former AFL player Tony Smith are accused to have kidnaped and threatened him.

According to police the employee was forced to record a video giving information contrary to evidence he gave in a court case involving Mr Smith.

Police have never suggested Mr Palmer had any involvement. Mr Crook is fighting the charges and was bailed last year.

The court heard Mr Smith has lodged a legal professional privilege application - regarding protected communications between a lawyer and a client - to the Supreme Court which police said 80% of their brief is related to.
