80 NEW JOBS: Furniture firm confirms new 5000sqm factory

THE next step of a Coast furniture company's major expansion has been realised with the development approval of a 5000sqm shed.

BizFurn founder Denis Moore said construction work was due to begin as soon as weather allowed at his Bowder Rd site at Yandina.

It comes after his company officially opened an adjoining 7500sqm factory in August last year.

His company specialises in school furniture, with Mr Moore citing demand from southern states as a driver for expansion.

"We have new products we want to introduce and they will be manufactured in these premises," Mr Moore said.

He said that included sound-absorbing plastic products that came in different shapes like clouds and trees to decorate classrooms.

Mr Moore said he hoped the new building would bring capacity in the coming two years to generate about 80 new jobs.

That is on top of the near 120 people he already employs.

"We hope to finish that (new building) in August."
