Pies fear ACL blow for Goldsack

A SECOND round of scans on Monday morning are expected to confirm an ACL rupture for popular Pies utility Tyson Goldsack.

Goldsack and the Pies were shocked to learn after initial scans that the 30-year-old had some damage to his cruciate ligament.

He had reported soreness in his knee after the Pies' comprehensive win over the Western Bulldogs on Saturday.

The Pies will assess more scans tomorrow but the fear is that Goldsack will miss the season after ACL surgery.

It is the latest injury blow to the Pies' forward line given all of Daniel Wells, Jordan De Goey and Jamie Elliott have all been ruled out for Round 1 against Hawthorn.

A Pies spokesman confirmed on Sunday night there were fears over his ACL but said the club would have more details on his knee after another scan on Monday.

The 2010 premiership player had only eight possessions in the club's win over the Dogs but has been the ultimate swingman and team player in his career at the club.

He had only signed a one-year contract extension in September last year but at 30 will hope to continue on with his career into 2019.
