Come and try to fly

COME along and fly with the Kingaroy Aeromodellers Society this weekend.

The plane fanatics will be holding a fun flying event today to give the community a sky-high view of their favourite sport.

The fourth annual society event will kick off with an official morning welcome at 10am on Sunday October 21.

They will have general flying all day and finish up around 3pm.

KAMS president John Box said the members flew together on Saturday during the day and into the evening with special planes.

They were also joined by model plane pilots from other Queensland groups, including fans from Brisbane for the weekend.

The event is a fundraiser for the Royal Flying Doctors Service Queensland, and community members can buy a $5 commemorative badge for a training session with one of the members and have a go at flying one of the model planes.

"Come and have a close look,” Mr Box said.

Those keen to be a pilot for the day can fly the model planes via a buddy system with one of the members, where they fly the plane together.

There will also be RFDS stickers, balloons, bookmarks and badges for sale, as well as a sausage sizzle for lunch.

The fly day will be held at 844 Booie-Crawford Rd, Booie.
