THE TRAGIC double fatal near Toowoomba that killed a 37-year-old mother and her six-year-old son has triggered a tremendous outpouring of support for the family on social media.

More than 85 messages have been left on The Chronicle's Facebook page expressing the grief felt throughout the community.

A family relative passed on the Leonardi's appreciation to emergency services, medical staff and the occupants of the car that was travelling behind the 4WD when the crash occurred

Staff at Toowoomba Hospital where the three children were first treated also used The Chronicle's Facebook page to reach out to the family.

"You are all in our thoughts ... constantly. And we are devastated by this news."
