Conor’s thrifty secret in $137m empire

Conor McGregor has an estimated net worth of $137 million (£78m) - and he doesn't need to spend a penny of it.

The UFC star is well known for his flashy lifestyle, regularly populating his social media with photos of daily extravagance, The Sun reports.

Whether it is the 30-year-old driving around in Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Rolls Royces, dressing in the sharpest of suits, of flashing a pure gold watch, the lad from Dublin has done good.

He even has his own brand of whisky that has gone worldwide.

But according to his coach and friend John Kavanagh, he doesn't have to pay for most of this.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Kavanagh said: "He's as competitive now with his business, his whiskey, as he is with his fighting.

"It sounds weird but he doesn't actually spend much money; everything he wears he's paid to wear; everything he drives is given to him; he's not into restaurants, his missus makes his meals.

"He's in a fairly modest home. He doesn't gamble."

While his future outside of the octagon is clearly secure, inside it is less certain.

McGregor is still waiting to discover his punishment for the post-fight brawl after his defeat against Khabib Nurmagomedov on October 7.

It remains to be seen who McGregor will fight next but with the threat of a lengthy ban hanging over him, he will have to wait until next year to learn his fate.

McGregor and Nurmagomedov were involved in ugly scenes after their fight in Las Vegas and both face certain punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

Both stars asked for extra time to prepare their defences and they have been given until January 29.

As well as a potential punishment to worry about McGregor was given an extra concern this week by long term trainer and friend Kavanagh.

Kavanagh alluded to a potential rematch with either Nate Diaz or Nurmagomedov but also admitted he would take some convincing to train the Irish superstar again.

However, with or without Kavanagh, once clear to fight again McGregor will not be short of options.

As well as the rematches mooted by his trainer, Dana White admitted he wants to see him fight Dustin Poirier again and Max Holloway, 27, recently discussed a rematch with the superstar.
