Controversy over Stokes wicket mars victory
AUSTRALIA might have beaten England by 64 runs in the second one-dayer to take a 2-0 series lead, but the game will be remembered for the dismissal of all-rounder Ben Stokes.
Stokes was just the sixth man given out for obstructing the field in ODI history.
The packed crowd at Lord's was incensed when Stokes was sent packing.
He defended a ball from paceman Mitchell Starc, but when the left-armer fired a throw at the striker's stumps, Stokes put out his hand to avoid being hit. After the ball hit the palm of his glove, the Aussies appealed and Stokes was given out on review.
Aussie opening batsman David Warner was ruled out for six weeks after breaking his thumb when hit by the second ball of the match from paceman Steve Finn.
Aaron Finch has recovered from a broken foot and will be his replacement.
Australia captain Steve Smith top-scored with 70, as the visitors reached 7-309.
