Cooler temperatures expected for rest of 2018
AS WE enter the final week of 2018, South Burnett residents may feel a little extra chill than usual.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, over the next week, maximums will hover around 30 degrees but we will see minimums drop below average to as low as 13 degrees.
A Weatherzone meteorologist advised the lower than normal December temperatures were due to the overnight gentle winds.
"The calmness in the wind allows cooler air to come closer to the surface,” he said.
"With the calmer weather you get colder overnight temperatures.”
According to the meteorologist, the cooler temperatures were not surprising given the wind is coming from the east.
"The air mass is cooler because it is coming off the coast,” he said.
While the cooler, sunny days may be a welcome sight for some, sadly, for those hoping for wet weather there is no good news in sight.
The meteorologist said a high pressure system overhead for much of eastern Australia means the South Burnett will have mostly sunny skies for the rest of the year.
"There doesn't look like there will be any substantial rain any time soon.”
