Coopers Gap wind farm works towards completion

SOUTH Burnett residents can expect to see the pieces for the Coopers Gap wind farm come together.

South Burnett councillor Terry Fleischfresser told the council during their general meeting on February 20, the team was working towards a completion date in late 2019.

"A significant milestone was reached in mid-November last year with the completion of the first wind turbine tower,” he said.

This tower is one of the 123 turbines to be erected.

"The on-site construction of the wind farm is progressing, with 95 foundations poured, both main transformers energised,” Cr Fleischfresser said.

He said the on-site AGL manager Ray King said the construction of the 275kV substation by Powerlink was now complete, as well as the energisation of the 33kV switchyard.
